deep well pots

I have seen a lot of pots for the chambers well on ebay. I am interested in one that can be used for soups, beans, etc. My question is, does the pot have to reach to the bottom of the well to be effective?

the pots rest upon the gas grate...i think any pot that fits into the well would work. i've used all sorts of bowls, dishes and pots with good results.

If you want to "cook with the gas off" then yes you will need the Chambers Wear-Ever kettles with lids, for the T-well.
Yes, you can use any pot that fits in the T-well other than the Wear-Ever brand. The single pot measures 9" wide.
I would venture to say they would need to rest on the grate for safety reasons.
I just won an auction with a single Wear-Ever pot that is 10" deep. I plan on using it for beans, soups, stews, etc... but I will have to cook the regulat way due to it's larger capacity.

Todd or Sam are great sources for Chambers litature!!
It will inform you of the uses, accessories and service. Plus great recipes using the "cook with the gas off" feature. And that is an addictive time saving feature.

I have a single pot that is after market and the thermowell lid does not fit tight when it is in the well. I wanted to make Treatmakers terrific chicken recipe, so I used aluminum foil instead of the pot lid. The thermowell lid was still above the stovetop just a smidgen and steam escaped from the pot, but it worked well any way.
